My brother is in Iraq as one of the independent contractors (formerly a soldier) who are working at rebuilding the infrastructure while stabilizing the region. Here is a photo from one of his trips off the base. This is the Ziggurat at Ur, one of the few remaining Mesopatamian structures in the region. You may remember Ur from the story of Abraham in the bible.
Possibly one of those big, life altering events coming. Will post more when I know more.
UPDATED: Looks like I'm going to be just fine. Just something minor. PHEW!
I totally forgot I'd requested today off 6 months ago so it was a surprise to have it pop up on my Outlook calendar. So, here I sit not knowing exactly WHAT to do. Everyone is working today except me. I'm glad I'm not outside though. Today is one of those fun Central Valley days where the temperature is 100+ and the air is unhealthy.
